Music played a very important part in Ancient Egyptian Life. Temple musician was a position of high status frequently held by women. Musicians connected with the royal household were held in high esteem, as were certain gifted singers and harp players. Deities were praised in songs and many women of the elite had titles such as “Chantress of Atmun”, demonstrating the importance of music in the cults of the Gods.
