Ramses II, aka Ramses the Great, (flourished 13th century BCE).  He is the son of Seti and  third king of the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt.  Ramses the Great reigned (1279–13 BCE);  second longest in Egyptian history. He is remembered as a triumphant worrier and master builder. His wars with the Hittites and Libyans are well documented in papyrus paintings and frescoes throughout Egypt.  Ramses is also well known for his extensive building programs.  Many colossal statues of him are found all over Egypt as well as temples and monuments.
