Akhenaten Papyrus Painting

$14.99

Akhenaten Papyrus Painting shows one of the most famous Egyptian Pharaohs.  Akhenaten  came to the throne of Egypt around 1353 BC. The earliest work of his reign is stylistically like the art of his predecessors, but within a year or two he was building temples to the Aten or the sun-disk at Karnak in a very different artistic style.  He declared the Aten the one and only “State GOD” to be worshiped for the future prosperity of the people and of course to ensure that Aten would arise each day after his passage thru the underworld. Other gods had their temples de-funded and priest unemployed. Akhentaten was both a true rebel and quite disruptive.  The introducing of a monotheistic state religion for the first time in recorded history made him both loved and hated.
